What does ETTL mean?

ETTL stands for evaluative though the lens. It uses a pre flash before the photo to make the quality of the exposure better. It evaluative’s metering sensors to be used which are used for ambient light.

Flash Photo Compare

1.  The picture with no flash makes the cat’s fur look darker compared to the one with flash.

2. You can also see the cat’s eye color more clearly in the one with flash.

3. There’s more shadows on the one without flash because the light from outside and the one with flash doesn’t have much shadows cause of the angle.

4. In the photo with flash the cat looks more focused on the camera and I think compared to the one without flash the cat is more focused because the flash and it gives more of a reaction.

5. Everything is more clear with the flash on. With the flash off everything is harder to see cause of the shadows and darkness.

Read And Write: Introduction to using Strobes

The three major light equipment are the light sources themselves, grips or stands that support the lights, and modifiers that control the spread of light. Theirs two type of professional studio light kits, first the kit with the flash head and the monolight kit. The ‘best’ flash head for studio photography is ‘The Bowens XMS1000 flash head’ for both amateurs and seasoned professionals alike. Each power pack is different theirs symmertic and assymetric power packs. The power pack that allows the user to vary the power supply to different flash heads is the assymetric power pack. And the power pack splits power equally between multiple flash heads is the symmetric power pack. Monolights are most of the time desired for their portability. It’s more useful if you get a strobe light that lets you removed the reflector. Which then lets you attach different kinds of light modifiers. Reflective umbrellas and softboxes are the most common used type of light modifers. Reflective umbrellas are used to get more light hitting the subject. The light flies from the strobe that hits inside the umbrella then reflects back to the subject. The gold umbrellas give a more warm tone. And the white one gives a bigger space of light that’s being reflected. If you want a more efficient and a light that’s more narrow you should use the sliver lined umbrella. If you want more control get a softbox its more controllable. The reason being is because the light being spread is more contained and with the umbrella light is spilled more like on the walls and everything surrounding the subject.

Why is photography so important?

Photography is important. It is important because we use photography for most things in life. Photography is important because one picture could tell a story. Photography is a way people can express their emotions and thoughts. When you take a picture you are capturing a moment, a moment that can say a lot and that will live on forever and photography makes that happen.  To me photography is really important, my mom would always take pictures and capture a moment and I love looking back to pictures. Also most of the time I take pictures of or with my friends and I like looking at them and remembering everything that happened at that day. Photography is used all the time now. Some of the things its used for is to advertise someone’s company/ product. Without photography that would be way harder and not a l0t of companies would be successful. Photography can also show people what’s going on in other places in the world without actually having to be there which is very helpful.
